For all the bashing thrown the way of Chris Pronger for the way in which he departed from the Edmonton Oilers, the talented blueliner was and still remains, the best player to have pulled on an Oilers jersey since the departure of Mark Messier prior to the 1991-92 season. With that being the case, its no wonder the organization's return for trading the future Hall of Famer, following a memorable run to the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals, remains a point of contention for many in Oil Country.

Over the last number of years, Shawn Horcoff has become the whipping boy for the vast majority of Edmonton Oiler fans. No matter what the Oiler captain does, it is never good enough for the masses in Oil Country. Few are willing to look past that number...$5.5 million. Unfortunately, in their eyes, that number takes away much of what the eleven year vet provides this club.

When you consider that Jari Kurri was a first ballot Hall of Famer who currently sits twentieth on the NHL's all time scoring list, many feel I am out to lunch for thinking Kurri was one of the most under appreciated players on the Edmonton Oilers during their dynasty years. Sure he has received his far share of credit for being Wayne Gretzky's trigger man but rarely has he be given his due for being the solid two-way player he was. In fact, one could argue that Kurri was almost as influential to the overall success of The Great One, as Gretzky was to the talented Finn.
